Exploring the Half Life 2 Cat Texture: Where to Find It and What It Means

Inside an inconspicuously named folder is this picture of a cat. This is probably the most well-known unused texture from Half-Life, due to how frequently it crops up in various Garry's Mod miscellany.


Seems to be for an early version of Portal's Chell's facemap. There are no models to this, only textures. "Boxrocket" is the codename used for the Source Filmmaker, which had been released with the TF2 update Meet the Pyro in 2012.

The Fisherman from Lost Coast is very defensive of what remains of Earth's original species. His comments on these species gives the player more knowledge on the effects of Xen lifeforms and the Combine on Earth's natural environment. If the player shoots a seagull, the Fisherman will show he disagrees, saying, in that order and at each seagull killed, "Hey, now! We've lost enough species already!", "What'd that gull ever do to you?", "Don't shoot the gulls! They keep down the leech population!" and finally "Well, suit yourself. I can't stop you.", after which no more seagulls can be seen.


The general condition of your cat's skin and coat are good indicators of her health. A healthy coat should be shiny and smooth, not coarse or brittle, and healthy skin should be supple and clear, not greasy, flaky, or bumpy. Although health and nutrition influence the shine and texture of your cat's coat from the inside, regular grooming and skin care on the outside will also help keep your cat's coat clean and free of tangles, no matter what type of hair coat he or she has.


If the nutrients are not digested well and are of poor quality, not only will they be unavailable to meet the body's needs, but they will also cause the liver and kidneys to work harder to eliminate the indigestible waste products. The ideal diet should be individualized to your cat's specific life stage (i.e., kitten, adult, senior) and health status. In all cases, quality and balance are the keys to good nutrition. A cat whose diet is inadequate to meet her dietary needs will have a dull, dry hair coat and will often shed excessively.

Most healthy adult cats are fastidious groomers and rarely require a bath. How often your particular cat needs to be bathed will depend somewhat on her age, lifestyle, and whether there are any underlying health problems. It's using AI upscaling to improve the textures while Source VR Mod Team is also creating new animations and hand poses to make Gordon's toppling of the Combine feel that much more fluid and immersive. Most weapons now have support for two-handed aiming and manual reloading, with the build having just left private testing. The beta might be a bit buggy with some rough edges, but that's par for the course with any beta.


Half-Life 2 isn't the only game getting a VR open beta, either, as InnerSloth just announced that Among Us will be getting its own. Sussing out impostors doesn't sound half as bad as fast zombies clawing at your face while you wait for a lift, but the anxiety of getting backstabbed while you try to do tasks will no doubt be amplified tenfold.


It may be helpful to think of the .QC files as a kind of table of contents for model projects: the .QC provides a complete list of all the assets which will be included in a finished model. The primary function of the .QC is to tell the StudioMdl compile program where to find textures and SMD files.


Studiomdl.exe is the command-line program that actually creates the Half-Life model files. It takes the name of a .QC file as a command parameter and uses the .QC to find the relevant .SMD (model) files. The program also provides feedback on the amount of memory used for the completed model's geometry, textures, and animation data, which can be useful in debugging and optimizing your models. See Compiling Models Basics for information on how to compile models with studiomdl.exe.


Before starting any sort of modeling, you should have a clear drawing, much like a blueprint, for your character, vehicle or prop. Once you've designed the character, you can create your geometry, edit the hard edges so it lights properly, add UV coordinates for the texture, envelope the mesh to your skeleton, add any facial expressions.


Most of the time, you should start your model with a piece of concept art that solves most of the design issues at hand, this is where you decide what your character is, what shape it has, what the materials should look like and even what some of the basic poses for the animation set might be. This is also a relatively painless way to test out ideas with your team without spending the time required to build, texture and animate a character. Before you go any further, you should try and get as much feedback on your design as possible. All of the characters in Half-Life 2 went through multiple versions and refinements before they were finalized.


There are no fixed rules in determining how many polygons you use in your model, or how much texture resolution you'll use in your materials. There are upper limits of engine capability, (10,000 polygons/model, 17,433 vertices, 4096 texture size and 128 bones) but these aren't usually going to be what you're shooting for. You'll need to consider how many of the character, vehicle, or prop you're making will be on screen. If you'd like dozens of them on screen at any given time, you'll have a different budget than if you'd only like to see one of them ever on screen at a time. With humanoid characters, especially for multiplayer use, you shouldn't need to go over 4000 polygons to get a character that has enough detail to accurately describe the form, bend properly at the joints, and have enough edges to light properly. Of course you can have more than that, but with normal mapping, and high res textures, you shouldn't really need to.


The next step in the modeling process is editing your UV coordinates. For basic information on editing UV coordinates, Please refer to the XSI documentation, (section Shaders, Lights and Cameras. Section: Texturing Basics). One common pitfall when starting to use the texture editor in XSI is ending up with multiple UV sets, You'll want to only have one UV set per model. In this figure, you can see how in one Texture coordinates node, you can inadvertently end up with multiple UV sets.


As a starting point, Try using the Get>Property>Texture Projection>Cubic mapping type, this will give you a series of good UV Islands. You can then use the Island Heal tool in the texture editor to quickly merge these pieces and correct for transform and scale. As of February 2022 we've enabled community addons to be uploaded to the mod page. This can take the form of reanimations, remodels, retextures, maps, sound redesigns, or however else you'd like to customise your RTBR experience and allow others to as well. A lot of the guidelines are contained by ModDB's own rules regarding content, but here's a run-down:


The consul plaza maps have historically been some of the roughest in the Division 1 line-up, but they're now leagues above their predecessors thanks to the changes made during Division 2, but also reworks spearheaded by RzDat post-Division 2. The streets beget far more tactical gameplay in Consulplaza01, and the chopper's added spotlight shines a grim light on the Combine's transgressions. Additional citizen interactions breathe additional life into the trouble in City 17.


Division 3 and the Wasteland is just around the corner, and so the antlions made a cheeky debut at the very end of Division 2's minetown map. All the antlions and hives you'll see here are dead or dying, but to help inform our art direction with the antlion environments going forwards, new hives have been modelled as a template for future assets. They also strobe in and out of brightness thanks to a texture proxy in the material.


The reddish ceramic colander holds several types of fish, including an eel. Its long, slender body forms a prominent loop that adds visual interest to the upper left of this still life. Peeters increased the illusion of space within the picture by including several reflections in the metal dish.

Cat coat genetics determine the coloration, pattern, length, and texture of feline fur. Understanding how can be challenging because many genes are involved. The variations among cat coats are physical properties and should not be confused with cat breeds. A cat may display the coat of a certain breed without actually being that breed. For example, a Siberian could wear point coloration, the stereotypical coat of a Siamese.


Silver agouti cats can have a range of phenotypes, from silver tabby, to silver shaded (under half the hair is pigmented), to tipped silver/chinchilla (only the very tip of the hair is pigmented). This seems to be affected by hypothetical wide band factors, which make the silver band at the base of the hair wider.
