PaveXpress is a free web-based pavement design tool available for use by local agencies, engineers and architects who need a reliable way to quickly determine the necessary pavement thickness for a given section of roadway or project. PaveXpress creates technically sound pavement structural designs for both asphalt and concrete pavements based on widely accepted industry standards from the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
PaveXpress was designed to be an extension of AASHTO 93/98 and has been adopted by public agencies such as the Washington State Department of Transportation as an accepted tool to help assess, scope, and design pavements. New features are added regularly. Since its initial release, PaveXpress has expanded to help users design asphalt overlays, porous asphalt sections, and life cycle cost analyses.

RoadEng is a site and road design software package. It works either as an add-on to other civil design software or as a standalone system. It includes functions for data collection, terrain modelling, contouring, volumes, profiles, sections, and road design.
RealCost-CA (version 2.5.5) is a software program to run life cycle cost analysis (LCCA). Thissoftware is based on a Microsoft Excel Macro function (64-bit). The download file is a zip compressed file (RealCostV2.5.5CA.zip, 2.4 Mb). It does not require a system administrator's permission, unlike the previous version.
Pavement ME Design Traffic Input (v1.0.0) generates traffic information (axle load distribution for single, tandem, and triple axles) and other inputs (vehicle class distribution, hourly distribution, axles per vehicle class, and annual average daily truck volume) for a project-specific location on the California highway network system, based on the Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) axle load spectra analysis results. The traffic files generated by this tool can be used directly as input for AASHTOWare's Pavement ME Design software. This software is a Microsoft desktop application (32-bit). The download file is a Setup msi file (Pavement ME Traffic Input Setup.msi 9.1 mb). The installation requires system administrator's permission.

MultiCool is a software program that enables the user to calculatethe temperature profile of multilayer asphalt hot mix pavements under a varietyof environmental conditions and timing constraints. AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design is the next generation of AASHTOWare pavement design software, which builds upon the mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide, and expands and improves the features in the accompanying prototype computational software.
The online version of the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (ME-PDG) is available to anyone with Internet access who has an interest in evaluating the guide and software. The pavement design guide is provided in an Adobe PDF format that is read-only, non-save, non-printable, and non-editable. The software can be downloaded for installation on a local drive in executable form, but its copy-protection feature requires access to the Internet to check for a specific file on the Transportation Research Board web server at each use. Certain supporting technical reports from Project 1-37A are available online in an unrestricted PDF format. This version will expire when the guide and software are available from AASHTO or at another time determined by NCHRP. NCHRP may revise this version as necessary and provide updates on the Internet.
WinPAS v1.0.2 Patch This patch repairs traffic calculation by traffic factors in WinPAS v1.0. Download the zip file and extract the executable and readme files. CRCP is reinforced with continuous steel bars throughout the length of the pavement and has no constructed transverse contraction or expansion joints except at bridges or pavement ends. The pavement's unique design means that it can extend, joint free, for many miles and has low maintenance requirements. As noted in the TechBrief, the Pavement ME Design program offers "significant advancement for the design of economical, long-life CRCP under a variety of climate conditions, traffic loadings, and local materials."
Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement: Design Using the AASHTO Pavement ME Design Program (Pub. No. FHWA-HIF-13-027) describes the primary data inputs needed to use the Pavement ME Design software for CRCP design. Also included are examples demonstrating the application of the software to both new CRCP design and CRCP overlays. Using the MEPDG and the software, engineers can assess how the various inputs and features selected for a particular project affect the final CRCP design. While there are approximately 150 potential data inputs for CRCP design, many default values in the software can be used. As highlighted in the TechBrief, the most important inputs for optimizing the CRCP design include slab thickness, steel content, bar depth, bar size, local climate, construction month, concrete strength, concrete elastic and thermal properties, lane width, and traffic.
The TechBrief summarizes the steps to follow in the design process when using the software and then examines the individual critical inputs. For example, a user should select the appropriate design type, such as new pavement or overlay. The program will then automatically select a portland cement concrete (PCC) surface layer with default properties. PCC thickness and material properties can be modified so that they are project-specific, including concrete thermal properties, cementitious content, and concrete strength.
